Racket Stringing 101 Course coming in May 2020

I have returned and am bringing this blog back to life!  After a much needed break from stringing I have decided to return to fill the void of good instruction on stringing and just to have a fun place to talk shop.  Many of us are inside staying safe and doing our best to help with the situation we are facing as a nation.  This is the perfect time to start your stringing journey or just improve on your current skills.

I am getting ready to roll out my " STRINGING 101" course shortly.  It it designed for the absolute beginner as well as  novice that wants to take it to the next level.  We will be using a 'drop weight' machine in the lessons and starting from square one.  Just bring your interest in tennis, your machine and I will provide the lessons, instruction and support.

I will take each step slowly so that it will sink in, lots of examples and repetition will be provided to get you up to speed.  We will spend time discussing best practices and always keeping it real and fun along the way.  Some of the principles will sound basic and others may not make sense at this early stage but will be important as you move to becoming a competent stringer.

Over the last 25 plus years I have strung rackets at all levels and still rely on what I learned early on.  It is critical to build a solid foundation in stringing and having a good foundation to build on.

We will be using basic equipment that is available to everyone and can be purchased at a reasonable cost.  The understanding is that yes computerized, constant pull machines have many advantages over drop weight machines, most stringers starting out use drop weight or crank style equipment.

We will get familiar with frames and preparing rackets for stringing, learning about equipment and benefits to technology, grommet replacement, standard stringing methods, tips and tricks, clamping and patterns as well has things to avoid.

This online method to teaching will include readings, study material, video instruction, weekly zoom q & a opportunity.

Please email with questions and get ready to move your stringing up a 'level'.
