Beginning Racquet stringing tip for Today - String Slippage

Q:  If i am stringing a racquet and the strings slip but don't break can I just start over with the strings or just repull the string?

A:  Stringing machine clamps should be cleaned periodically to reduce the possibility of a string slipping.  On occasion if the string slips through the clamp you not only lose tension but also compromise the integrity of the string.  Once the string has slipped you are best advised to start over with new string.  Although you might be able to pull the string and find it doesn't break on you, most times it will break prematurely and if you are stringing for a client, they won't be happy.  My advise is to start over with new string..
